Mathilde

CA$475.00
sold out

12”x16”
Handpainted collage on wood panel

The term "wallflower" has often been used to describe someone who is shy or introverted and tends to blend into the background at social events. This is one of many words that is used unfairly towards mostly women as it implies that they are passive and uninteresting.

It reinforces the societal expectation that women should be outgoing and sociable, and if they are not, they are somehow deficient.

Mathilde is anything but deficient. She is not a wallflower, but prefers to observe her surroundings first and proceed with caution as she has learned from past experience, this is a much better idea.

Flamingos are often used as a symbol of grace, beauty, and individuality. Their distinctive pink colour and unique appearance make them stand out from the crowd. Flamingos are also known for their social behaviour, often gathering in large flocks, but they also value their alone time and are not afraid to be independent.

Much like Mathilde.
