Gwendolyn's House

CA$700.00
sold out

20”x20”
Handpainted collage on canvas

Part of the Other People’s Houses series.

This is a piece that is a hybrid of both of my sweet mom’s childhood homes. I spent a lot of time myself in the bungalow in Marda Loop. It was a really lovely little house, with great doors and door handles and a massive yard. My Papa passed away when I was 8 years old, but I feel a real connection to that man and hope we all get to meet again in Heaven.

The top part of this home was where my mom mostly grew up. It is now where the parking lot of the Chinese Cultural Centre is.

A series of work about the buildings that shape us. Each of these new pieces contain a home of someone else. Many of these are actual places where people have lived, or spent time. Others symbolize emotions tied to the concept of home, some are dream homes, and some represent personality traits inherited from one's upbringing.
